In the framework of advocacy and further gaining support, the International Planned Parenthood Federation - Arab World Region awarded three awards in a video competition organized by the IPPF Arab World Region in partnership with the CAWTAR Center directed to media professionals in the Arab world on the issue of combating female genital mutilation. Three journalists from Yemen, Egypt and Sudan won the prize.
The first prize went to the Yemeni journalist, Samah Al-Shaghdari, for her film “The Circumcision of the Soul”. The members of the competition jury praised the work, which was characterized by creativity and innovation in presenting the topic, in addition to the high artistic value used in the animation .
The second prize was awarded to the participant Abdel-Rahman Salih Akoush from Egypt for his video "Elimination of Female Genital Mutilation.” The meanings on which the film is based were linked to the depicted scenes, good directing techniques were used, and multiple angles were adopted to treat the subject .
The third prize went to the participant, Amer Hassan Muhammad from Sudan, for his film entitled“Okairat”, which included a clear and accurate informational message to the audience, and was designed with an attractive visual language, in addition to the logical and functional use of technologies.
