Advocacy is about promoting, recommending and encouraging others, in particular decision-makers, to support a cause, policy, idea, way of doing something, or a change.
IPPF advocates for everyone’s right to sexual and reproductive health and for gender equality. We advocate at global, regional, national and sub-national levels across the world. We focus our advocacy on the decision-makers who have the power to make the changes we want to see. These people usually hold official positions of authority, for example they are heads of state, government ministers, Parliamentarians, civil servants or local leaders. We based our advocacy on evidence and use a range of different advocacy methods to create a convincing case for change.
